Meditation

This ability to 'shut out' the outside world and be with yourself
is also a way of expressing respect for yourself
and acknowledging the unique being that you are;
indeed it is through this that you can understand everything else.

Along with other traditions such as yoga or Buddhism, Sufism offers centuries-old experience and knowledge in the field of meditation.

Meditation means to turn the senses inwards and to connect to one's soul. Although the outer senses are limited in time and space, once they are directed inwards, they are no longer subject to those limitations.

It is important to be able to concentrate when we meditate. Concentration can be defined as the ability to focus on a single thought. Breathing helps concentration which is why breathing techniques play a central part in all spiritual schools.
